While Dr. Waldman is highly trained in numerous aspects of advanced dentistry including implant dentistry, sedation techniques and treatment of snoring and sleep apnea, being a Toronto family dentist is her favourite part of her practice. This is also the most challenging part of her practice.
Dr. Waldman and her team strive provide all the dental services in a modern, clean and compassionate setting., but it is Family Dentistry that Dr. Waldman and her team have the opportunity to build life long professional, but personal relationships.
Dr. Waldman is passionate about dentistry and loves treating patients of all ages. She loves helping children learn to brush and become comfortable in the dental office. She loves treating adolescents and providing their orthodontic care while also trying to get them to understand the importance of brushing and flossing. She loves treating adults with all their various needs. And finally, she loves helping our more mature patients keep their ability to chew and look good for the rest of their lives.
But providing family dentistry services is not just about treating everyone of all ages; it means treating each age group differently according to their unique needs.
For example, did you know that babies can literally “catch” tooth decay from their mothers? If the mother has a high decay rate, they likely also have a high level of the bacteria that causes tooth decay. By bringing these bacteria levels down for the mother (or expectant mothers), the risk of decay transmission is significantly reduced.
Another example of special needs is that of the older population. Statistics show that more than 80% of the over 65 population is on one or more medications for treatment of at least one chronic disease. These medicines could be for conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure or arthritis. Understanding these medications and their drug interactions are crucial to avoid unnecessary complications in our patients’ treatment.
It is in all these diverse areas of practice that Dr. Waldman is constantly updating her knowledge and skills as a Toronto family dentist & cosmetic dentistry. And it is because of these skills, compassion and warmth that Dr. Waldman is now having the pleasure and honour of treating not only the children of her original patients but also their grandchildren!
